HTC One has camera updates rolled out

HTC OneHTC has announced that there will be an update to its HTC One smartphone, that will fix several issues that had arisen over the HTC branded UltraPixel camera. This update should be pushed towards devices in the next few weeks but the device will remain on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as its OS.

The improvements that have been made include a range of noise reduction solutions, improved colour reproduction on all images produced and dynamic range in all lighting conditions. This also includes a specific fix to display correct ISO, when the ISO settings have been changed by the user, according to people at HTC. The UltraPixel camera comes at a 4-megapixels spec, but it offers a wide range of different picture quality options.

Nokia rolls out updates for the Lumia 620, 820 and 920 handsets

Nokia has rolled an update for its Lumia 620, 820 and 920 Windows Phone 8 handsets that brings a raft of new improvements. Version 1232.5957.1308.00xx for Lumia 820 and 920 improves the automatic display brightness adjustment and there is a fix for a screen blanking issue that sometimes occurs during calls.

The Nokia Lumia 620 now has version 1030.6407.1308.00xx, which greatly improves the performance of the handsets. Once the update is installed, users will instantly notice the improvement made to the touch screen functions, which includes adjustments in multi-touch actions.

Facebook launches Facebook Home for Android smartphones

Facebook has showcased its Facebook Home software that will turn your Android handset into a Facebook phone. Founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg said that Home is focusing on people and not applications.

He said, "What would it look like if our phones were built around people and not apps? We have our phones with us all the time. We want to know what's going around with people around us."

Facebook Home is to launch on several devices to begin with more handsets being added at a later date. Zuckerberg said, "The great thing about Android is that it's open. You can improve on the system. You don't have to fork Android, you can have experiences on Android that you can't have on other platforms."

Samsung officially launches the Galaxy S4

Samsung Galaxy S4With months of speculation over, Samsung has officially showcased it brand new handset device, the Galaxy S4 at its global launch event in Times Square, New York. JK Shin said that the Galaxy S4 would make our lives “richer, simpler and fuller”.

The Galaxy S4 features some impressive specifications including a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display screen. It will be powered by the rumoured 1.6GHz octo-core Exynos5 processor with 2GB of RAM, bringing a huge amount of power to the handset.

On the back of the handset is a 13-megapixel camera, which is a step up from the 8-megapixel found on the Galaxy S2 and S3 models. On the front will be a 2-megapixel camera. It will have 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, NFC and a IR Blaster. The 2,600mAh battery has been improved and in which the handset should be able to last throughout the day.

Samsung Galaxy S4 final rumour round-up

Samsung-Unpacked-Event-2013-ImageWith Samsung's latest device the Galaxy S4 being rumoured to be released later today, this will be the final round of the most anticipated rumours that will either be confirmed or denied by Samsung at their Global Unpacked Event at around 11pm tonight.

The S4 is rumoured to be coming to users with eye-scrolling, allowing you to change and scroll pages using only a movement of the eyes. Bloomberg however has stated that “sources familiar with the devices” have said the S4 will not have anything even like this. With the best scenario being simple eye tracking (to pause videos when you look away) and the worst, being that this technology will be on future Galaxy S devices.

New flexible displays for Samsung Galaxy phones still in development

Galaxy-Flexible-Screen-ImageSamsung has stated that their current focus for the new Galaxy S4 will be a full HD 1080p display, with no implementation of a flexible screen as the technology is “not currently up to standard” according to a Samsung expert in the field. The Samsung Galaxy S4 will have a 1920x1080 display that is there to compete with other phones on the market.

There had been speculation over the recent weeks that Samsung would release their new S4 handset with a flexible screen but Samsung have now officially stated that, their progress with the flexible, foldable and bendable screens has not been good enough to put it on their highly anticipated device.

BlackBerry 5 handsets get BBM voice and BBM 7

BlackBerry Bold 9900With BlackBerry heavily promoting its current line up of handsets, it has not forgotten its older handsets as it launches BBM 7 and BBM voice on to phones that are running the BlackBerry 5 operating system.

The BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) 7.01 lets users chat with other BlackBerry users over Wi-Fi without using any of the free minutes. The BBM version that was included on the Z10 handset can also do video calls.

BlackBerry Messenger 8 was launched on BlackBerry 6 handsets last year and has seen over 50 million voice calls being made.

Lenovo interested in potential BlackBerry deal

BlackBerry and LenovoPC manufacturer Lenovo has shown its interest again in a potential takeover deal for the mobile handset manufacturer BlackBerry, which saw shares in the Canadian company rise on Monday. The CEO of Yang Yuanqing was speaking to the French Newspaper Les Echos and in which he said that a takeover is possible on the cards as Lenovo are looking to gain more of the mobile market share in the west.

He said that a takevover of BlackBerry "could possibly make sense, but first I need to analyze the market and understand what exactly the importance of this company is."

Samsung Galaxy S4 pictures leaked on Chinese forum

Samsung Galaxy S4A Chinese forum has posted pictures of what looks like the new Samsung handset, the Galaxy S4 ahead of its official launch in the New York on the 13th March with the poster claiming that this is a dual-SIM version of the phone.

These pictures do back up the reported specifications of the handset as the other pictures show that it has a 13-megapixel camera, Full HD screen, 1.8GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and will run Android 4.2.1.

There are some inconsistencies with the pictures as sources told the Pocket Lint website that the processor would be “octo-core”. The images in the forum only show it as a quad-core ARM v7 processor.

After Samsung's announcement about their exclusive event in New York on March 14th, more information has come to light about the specifics of the device that they stated would be unveiled at the event, the Samsung Galaxy S4. Along with this new information, Samsung has released the first official Galaxy S4 video

Information gleaned from a Samsung employee that spoke to New York Times, has suggested that the new device will come with new eye-tracking technology that allows you to scroll and turn pages by tracking your eye movements. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to come with a full-HD 1920x1080 display with it growing from 4.8 to 5 inches, another rumour states that the screen with be LCD instead of AMOLED.
