Microsoft has denied speculation going round that it was going to start manufacturing its own mobile phone. The company has just recently launched its own branded tablet in the form of Windows Surface that will be running either Windows 8 Pro or RT but have no intention of making its own smartphones.
Greg Sullivan, Senior Marketing Manager of Windows Phone was asked by Information Week if the company were going to adopted the same business with the Surface tablet and apply it to the smartphone market and his reply was, "No, we do not."
He pointed out the company has strong connection with the existing mobile phone manufacturers, which include Nokia, HTC, Samsung as he said, "We have a strong ecosystem of partners that we are very satisfied with.”
Speculation has continued to grow ever since the announcement of the Surface tablets. It is expected that Microsoft would look to go further into the hardware sector as well licensing its mobile operating system to others.
